Vows are the moment of devotion.  Both like and unlike the lessons of love the vows are your personal vow, pledge of both love and allegiance.  This is what marriage is about.  You are about to give your partner the highest honor a man and woman can share, the toitle of husband and wife.  If you are writing your own vows, you are pledging everything good, and you can also insert vows of things you won't do or in addition to.  One such wedding I enjoyed years ago was his pledge to defend his bride againts all eight legged threats.  Here are some idea's to work with.
I, John Q Groom take you Jane Q Bride to be my wife.
Secure in my love for you
Share my life as I share yours.
Walk by my side, love me, encourage me; as I will you.
I will listen when you speak.
I will share your laughter and your tears as you share mine.
I will respect and honor you as an individual, a lover, a partner and a friend
I will give everything to achieve the life we plan together.

Debbie, do you take Mike as your husband?  As your companion and best friend for life, do you promise to treat him with love and devotion, honor and respect?  Do you promise to share all life has to offer, your hopes and dreams, your achievements and disappointments with him from this day forward, as a faithful and caring wife?
Groom, Do you promise to respect Bride as a person, listen when she speaks, encourage her when she doubts, comfort her in times of sadness and despair, be her strength when she is uncertain, be faithful and honest with her always?  If so, say I do.

Mike: I do.
Debra will you repeat after me but speak to Jerome
I Debra take you Jerome to be my husband.
To share my life with you in sickness and in health,
through laughter and tears, to love and to cherish you,
encourage and listen to you.
I will respect you and honor you as an individual, as a lover as a partner and my best friend.
And forsaking all others, I will remain true to you so long as we both shall live.
Kate today you marry your best friend, your sweetest love and partner.  Look forward to all the joys in your life together and welcome the challenge of every obstacle you encounter because whatever you face, you’ll face together.
Kate , Do you promise to respect Les as a person, listen when he speaks, encourage him when he doubts, comfort him in times of sadness and despair, be his strength when he is uncertain, be faithful and honest with him always?  If so, say I do.
I, Lee take you Denise to be my wife.
Arimis, these are my promises to you: that I will love you freely, as the sky loves the bird, as the sunset loves the early evening; that I will love you grandly, with my loving words and all of my actions; that I will love you purely, with all of my honor, and my knowing, with all the best intentions of my being; that I will love you joyfully, with my body, with my laughter, with my foolishness and playing, until we grow old together.  And then I shall love you sweetly and gladly, until our lives shall come to an end.  Nor shall death part us, for in the fullness of time, we will be born again, and we shall meet, remember and love again.
Jan,  I pledge to you the first bite of my meat,  and the first sip of my wine I pledge to you my living and my dying,
each equally in your care
I shall be a shield for your back , as you are for mine
I pledge to you,  that yours will be the only name I cry aloud in the night
and the eyes into which I smile in the morning
I shall honor you above all others
I shall not slander you, nor you me, and when we quarrel we shall do so in
private and tell no strangers our grievances
And above all I cherish you and only you, as long as we both shall live"

"This is my wedding vow to you
This is the marriage of equals."

I, Josh, take you, Sarah to be my wife,
Secure in the knowledge that you will be
My constant friend,
My faithful partner in life,
And my one true love.
On this special day,
I give to you,
In the presence of God and all those in attendance
My sacred promise
To stay by your side as your husband
In sickness and in health,
In joy and in sorrow, as well as
Through the good times and the bad.
I promise to love you with reservation,
Comfort you in times of distress,
Encourage you to achieve higher goals,
Laugh with you and cry with you,
Always be open and honest with you,
And cherish you,
For as long as we both shall live.
