Sorry the load time is
so long...
I started the Renaissance
in it's infancy; year one, working a coke-a-cola stand from the same trailer that we also used
each year at
the Minneapolis Aquatenial- not historically correct huh? .. I don't recall
the name of the guy I worked for, but he had several ventures going, and in
the end the whole thing had me nervous so I left the fest after
the second year, even though they were promising "Us workers" a solid site
with real buildings. I was 17 or 18 then and Shakopee sounded
like Iowa so I didn't look back. Pity I didn't believe them!.
I returned to the Ren only eleven years ago when my buddy John - Sir John Boyd
(Geisler)
insisted that all evolved as promised all those years ago. Who would
have believed it? My first trip back was in street clothes because I
recalled all too well the over grown fields of my previous experiences, and
though well past wood tick season... Suffice to say Insects, tall
grass and billowy skirts ... yes, you get the picture. I was
amazed however at my reunion with the REN. Things indeed developed as
promised and I'm sad hide sight only aims backward, because I would have
loved to have grown up with the fest.
Any way John and I
made the Ren our annual event visiting at least
three times each season. Our Ren-habit has out last three of his girls
friends and two of my marriages in the process. Jan however is definitely a keeper! I
preformed the wedding ceremony March 1, 2003

Over the years I have become
acquainted with many new folk (regular actors whom I'd recognized and admire
each year) at the faire. 8 years ago I became ordained as minister
and since preformed several weddings, on site, each custom written in Ren-speak for the discriminating Lord and Lady.
I look forward to many
more Ren seasons/weddings and friends. Someday I'll even finish the Novel I started that takes place there.
Just to offer some relational
background, John, my good friend is matched with Jan. As previously
noted NEWLY WEDS!!! Mistress Amanda
is my daughter, (Newly college graduate) you can see early shots of her on John's Page. Stephen
is my good friend from England, yeah, that fake accent is no accident, and
you can often catch him down at the Queens pub, showing off for Mistress
Bawd. He is quite the poet, and songster, and all round great guy.
Even for an Englishman. Look for more ren-links from my links page. Click

Until I
find pictures from previous years (most of Mandy and John,) as I spent all
my time on the "other side" of the camera - I stuck some Ren Wedding pictures - from
last season. Click the picture to see an enlargement.
